There's a first time for everything
Well here I am blogging for the first time ever - good to join you all. I'm not sure how freqently I shall do this but I wanted to say how much I enjoyed the evening service on Sunday, too. I agree with Michelle that we should be using people's gifts more to bless one another. The one thing that would have made it even better would be for people to pray with one another after the service. I'd be interested to hear how you think we might encourage this as it would be a great way to start the week.

wouldn't it be wonderful if the area where the young people usually sit in the morning had a couple of people sitting there in the evening service who feel gifted in praying with people (should be anyone from the church) we could perhaps have a rota of 6 or 8 people that could regularly do this because I agree with you Linda this is an area of ministry we are neglecting. I have lost count the number of times I've prayed with people after the service but that is so limited to the people who know me and feel comfortable in approaching me in the first place. If this ministry was offered every Sunday and mention of it during the service or in the service sheets I'm sure it would be an area of blessing for many

It's good to see you here. I wasn't able to get to church on Sunday, so I missed the service that Michelle and you are talking about. However, I wholeheartedly agree about prayer ministry and count it a privilege when given the opportunity to pray with individuals after a service (or at any other time). I know this is something that was talked about a while ago, but has never 'formally' got off the ground. While I'd be glad to see this encouraged in a more formal way, I think there are still occasions when people wish to pray quietly with a friend not in a designated place. It would seem perhaps that there is a place for either/or.

Great to see you here - as you mention I'm all for anything that encourages people through their working week. As well as having huge intrinsic value, I think this would also send out the powerful message for us all that prayer should be a way of life as natural as breathing and not something we just do in a crisis. Bring it on!
